The Quiet Confidence: Walking in Boldness
Hello my lovelies,
I’m just returning from a book launch trip. A dear friend stepped out in faith and did what seemed impossible (to me) – I am so proud of her. Being in her presence during the launch, watching her move with ease and godly confidence was awe-inspiring. We all need women in our lives who inspire us to reach higher, believe with abandon and take a chance. The experience reminded me of a younger version of myself that’s been lost in translation to life, and dreams of years gone by.
Recently, I shared with you how writing is something I love but avoid out of fear. The Lord showed me this past week that it can be done! I want to encourage you to do the same. He has made my broken beautiful and I know He desires to do the same for you:
What “thing” in your life has The Lord impressed on you to do but you avoid doing? (Matt 25:15)
What if we allow the Lord to endue us with His Power from on high to go forth in the talents, gifts and abilities He has given us? (Luke 24:49)
What if we shift our focus from what others think (or may think) and instead laser-lock on HIS promises and faithfulness to complete His work in us? (Jeremiah 29:11)
What if we didn’t shy away from the hard stuff, the uncomfortable stuff, the broken stuff, the lost stuff, the vulnerable stuff and instead lay it on the altar, knowing that His grace is sufficient to keep us from falling? (Jude 1:24)
What if we quelled our fears by trading them for His peace that surpasses all understanding? (Isaiah 61:3)
What if we allow Him to be our shield and buckler knowing HE covers us with his feathers, and trust us under his wings? (Psalms 91:4)
Paul reminds us to be “confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6)
This is the same confidence that born in me when I choose to honor the Lord not just inwardly with my heart and attitude: how I treat myself and others but also outwardly in how I choose to carry myself and adorn this temple in and out of season.
There’s a beautiful confidence in showing up even if it looks different.
Society sells us the idea of ‘keeping relevant,” and a lot of this looks like conforming to the latest trend, which simply isn’t feasible with the rate at which trends change.
How will you show up when seasons change? When they are for you, seemingly against you or in seasons of stillness?
The season of showing more is also here. We usually see more color, more florals, more fun pieces and in our world of fashion and beauty, more skin. As we begin to shed our winter layers, we also begin to see a push to reveal more of our bodies. However, there’s power in choosing a different path; and it’s not a posture of hiding. It’s an act of intention and purpose.
It’s a decision to let your character and convictions take the lead, whilst allowing your attire to serve as a frame, rather than the main event. I have an image of a beautiful work of art in a gallery. The frame serves a beautiful purpose but what’s on the inside is truly captivating.
It’s the captivating confidence that comes from truly knowing whose you are, who you are, and walking in that purpose. I’ve known this for most of my life but had to re-learn this lesson the hard way when it was tested during the year I spent having my identity and character challenged on every side.
